Farm World splits naturally into two halves that are worth knowing about before buying: livestock, cows, sheep, pigs, goats, and the pets and working animals that live alongside them, dogs, cats, and the odd horse crossing over from Horse Club territory. A child drawn to caretaking play, feeding, herding, tending, usually gets more from the livestock side, while a child who wants a single character to follow through a story tends to gravitate towards the dogs and cats.

Because the collection includes tractors, barns and fencing as well as animals, it's one of the few collections here where the equipment matters almost as much as the figures. A single cow or sheep is a perfectly good gift on its own, but a farmyard genuinely comes alive once there's something for the animals to be inside, a barn to shelter in, a fence to be moved through, rather than open figures with nowhere to go.

Most families build this collection in a fairly natural order: a few animals first, then a barn or stable, then equipment like a tractor once there's enough of a farmyard to justify it. That order tends to hold a child's interest longer than buying a big playset on day one, since there's always an obvious next thing to add.

As with the rest of the collection, every figure is hand-painted, wipes clean with a damp cloth, and is best kept away from radiators and direct sunlight. Pieces with small, detachable parts, gates, fencing, tools, carry the usual small-parts guidance, which is worth checking against a younger sibling's age before anything gets handed down.

Farm World is also one of the more natural collections to pair with Horse Club, since real farms and stables sit close together in most children's minds already. A family with an established Horse Club herd often finds Farm World animals slot in easily around the same scale and scene, rather than requiring a separate, unrelated setup.

For younger siblings inheriting an older child's farmyard, it's worth doing a quick check of any playsets for small hinges, gates or removable parts before handing the whole collection down, since the age guidance on accessories can differ from the guidance on the animal figures themselves.

Farm World also tends to be one of the more forgiving collections for mixed-age play, since younger and older children can both get something out of the same farmyard scene, a younger child moving animals in and out of a barn, an older one setting up a more involved storyline, without either needing a separate set of their own.

It's worth pairing animals deliberately rather than buying at random, a cow and a calf, a hen and her chicks, since young animals alongside adults tend to give a farmyard scene more of a story than a row of unrelated adult animals.

It's also worth building the collection across more than one visit rather than in a single purchase, since a farmyard that grows gradually tends to hold a child's interest longer than one that arrives complete on day one.
