Horse Club is Schleich's dedicated horse collection, and it's usually where a stable starts: one mustang or mare on a windowsill, then a foal, then a rider, then a herd that takes over a shelf.

Every horse here is modelled on a real breed rather than one generic horse shape repainted, so a mustang and a Haflinger genuinely look like two different animals standing side by side. The collection runs from riding horses and ponies to heavier, working breeds, with foals, mares and stallions across most of them so a herd can grow generation by generation rather than staying a single figure.

Most figures suit ages 3 and up, and they're weighted and posed to be picked up and moved constantly, not kept for display. That's really the test a Horse Club figure is built to pass: can it survive being carried around, stabled, and dropped, and still look right the next day.

Building a Horse Club herd from scratch

Most families start with a single stallion or mare rather than a stable set, and add to it as interest grows rather than committing to a full set-up straight away. A mustang or a mare from the core riding breeds is usually the easiest starting point, since it pairs naturally with almost anything added later, foals, other breeds, riders, or a stable of their own.

The collection is organised loosely around breed and role: light riding horses, heavier working breeds like the North Swedish Cold Blooded, and foals sized to sit alongside an adult horse rather than looking out of scale next to it. Knowing a child's favourite real-world breed, or simply picking two horses with visibly different builds, is usually enough to make a first pair feel like the start of a proper herd rather than two random figures.

Because every figure is hand-painted, small variations in coat and marking are normal rather than a fault, and they're part of what makes each horse look individual next to the others. A damp cloth is all any figure needs to keep looking right, and it's worth keeping horses away from radiators or direct sunlight, which can dull the coat over time.

As a gift, a single horse works well for a birthday, while a foal alongside its mare suits a child who already has one or two horses and is ready to grow the story further. Riders, stables and tack are worth adding once the herd itself has a few horses in it, rather than before.

Horse Club also scales well outdoors, in a garden or on a patio, since the figures are built to withstand handling that a purely indoor collectible wouldn't survive. Many families find this becomes one of the toys that moves easily between a bedroom shelf and outdoor play, rather than being confined to one or the other, which extends its useful life well beyond a typical toy's first few months.

It's also worth knowing that Horse Club connects directly with Schleich's Bayala collection through shared scale and build, so a family that later wants to introduce fantasy figures, unicorns, winged horses, isn't starting a separate, incompatible collection. The two collections are designed to sit on the same shelf without looking mismatched.
