Building a well-rounded collection

With this many species available, it helps to pick a starting theme rather than buying at random. A child fascinated by big cats can build out lions, tigers and leopards before moving on to a different habitat, while a child more interested in British wildlife might prefer foxes, badgers and deer over savannah animals they'll only ever have seen on a screen.

That kind of themed browsing is genuinely useful when building a collection rather than just adding animals at random: a handful of figures from the same habitat, tied together by where they'd actually be found, gives a child more to work with narratively than an unrelated pile of favourites ever could.

Baby animals and family groupings appear throughout the collection, which tends to be what turns a shelf of individual animals into something that feels like an actual collection rather than a random assortment. A cub next to an adult, a fawn next to a deer, gives a child somewhere to put a story rather than just another figure to add to a row.
